Violinist Mark Chien made his debut at the age of 13 with the
Greenwich Symphony. Currently the concertmaster of the Washington
Heights Chamber Orchestra, Mark has also served in principal positions
with the Aspen, Colorado College, and Sarasota Music Festival
orchestras, as well as the Juilliard and Shepherd School orchestras.
Mark has a passion for making music accessible to all audiences. The
Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra presents free concerts to the
diverse Washington Heights neighborhood. He co-founded Music as
Medicine, a string quartet that puts on interactive performances in
children’s hospitals. Mark is also a member of the VISION collective,
sharing his music with refugees in America and around the world.
Mark has a Bachelor of Music degree from Rice University and a Master
of Music degree from The Juilliard School. His principal teachers have
