Alex Atchley is a freelance percussionist, drummer, timpanist and educator based in the Capital Region of Albany, NY. He frequently performs with the Grammy-winning Albany Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Glens Falls Symphony and Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony. He has performed with the National Broadway Tours or “Sound of Music”, “Wicked”, “Tina!” and “Ain’t Too Proud” at Proctor’s Theater in Schenectady. He has also performed in the Williamstown Theater Festival and several Playhouse Stage Co. productions. Previously, Alex was based in Chicago where he was a member of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. He performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago as well as several regional orchestras in Illinois and Michigan. Alex currently teaches with the Empire State Youth Orchestra where he conducts the Concertino Percussion Ensemble, serves as Percussion Manager as well as a CHIME Teaching Artist.
