2025 SPACE Summer Camps & Special Events

Caroga Arts is excited to announce a variety of summer events under the SPACE program umbrella. Please see below.

Caroga Arts Summer Camps provide an immersive experience for musicians of all ages, from young learners to adults, to grow their skills, collaborate with peers, and learn from professional artists. Campers explore the intersection of music and the arts through cross-disciplinary collaborations, engaging in creative projects that blend performance, visual arts, and more. Needs-based scholarships are available to help make this experience accessible to all.

Strings Camp (5 Days)

  • Open to string players of all ages and skill levels, including beginners and first-time learners! This five-day camp welcomes violin, viola, cello, bass, and guitar players to develop technique, musicality, and ensemble skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Students will participate in guided instruction, group workshops, and hands-on learning tailored to their experience level. The week concludes with a showcase concert on July 2, celebrating each participant’s progress and musical growth!

    • $165 Early bird registration deadline by June 30

Side-by-side Symphony Seminar (4 Days)

  • A unique four-day camp for instrumentalists of all ages—young students and adults alike! Participants will play side-by-side with Caroga Arts’ professional resident artists, culminating in a special performance of Louie the Loon. In addition to rehearsing and performing, students will engage in art and script reading activities inspired by the production of Louie the Loon. Whether you’re a budding musician or an experienced player, this immersive seminar offers a creative and enriching symphonic experience for all!

SPACE Camp for All Musicians

Dates: Mondays 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5 & Showcase concert* on Friday, 8/9
Time: Mondays 10am-12:30pm**, Friday 8/9 Showcase Concert at 6:30 (6pm arrival)

Connect with other students through music and study with professional musicians in a welcoming and nurturing environment. The SPACE Camp for All Musicians is open to all ages (grades Pre-K thru 12 and college/adult amateur musicians) and instruments including, but not limited to: violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, winds, brass, piano, and percussion.

Needs-based scholarship & instrument rentals available upon request!

*Showcase Concert on 8/9 at prior to the Rhapsody in Blue concert – all SPACE Camp participants will receive two complimentary general admission tickets.

**Participants pre-K thru 1st Grade: 11:30AM-12:30PM only

Early Bird Registration Cost:

  • Pre-K – 1st Grade: $15 per Monday or $50 for all four sessions and showcase concert
  • 2nd grade – Adults: $35 per Monday or $130 for all four sessions and showcase concert

Early Bird Deadline: June 24

Full Price Registration Cost:

  • Pre-K – 1st Grade: $20 per Monday or $70 for all four sessions and showcase concert
  • 2nd grade – Adults: $40 per Monday or $150 for all four sessions and showcase concert

SPACE Music & Art Workshop

Dates: Mondays 7/15 & 7/22
Time: 1:00-2:30PM

Music and art can be considered close siblings in the family of creative expression. At the SPACE Music & Art Workshop, students will engage in an interactive exploration of how these two forms of creativity can inspire and enhance one another. The music segment will be guided by Stephanie Price-Wong and CLMF Resident Artists, while the art segment will be led by Sam Fielding, a local artist and author of ‘Kawaii Treats – How to Draw Adorable Food for Kids.’ This enriching workshop is open to students from 1st through 12th grade.

Students in the SPACE Camp for All Musicians can add on this workshop. Parent/guardian signed permission slip needed to stay on campus and students will be supervised by a CarogaArts staff member or designated volunteer unless the parent chooses not to. SPACE Camp for All Musicians students who add on will need to bring a bagged lunch.

Program Registration Cost: $15 per Monday or $25 for both workshops

SPACE Band Camp

Dates:
Monday 7/29 – 12:30-2:30PM
Wednesday 7/31, 12:30-2:00PM
Friday 8/2 1:00-2:00PM and Showcase Concert 6:15-6:45PM

Calling all winds, brass, electric guitar/bass and percussion student musicians, 8th-12th grades! Come jam and work with renowned musicians including saxophonist Eddie Barbash and members of WindSync. All SPACE Band Camp students will have the rare opportunity to meet the legendary guitarist Cory Wong and attend a rehearsal for the “Cory Wong & Strings” on July 30 and the performance for “Cory Wong with Caroga Arts Ensemble” on July 31.

Transportation will be provided for Johnstown School District students from Johnstown High School. Additional signed permission slips required – contact Andy LaCoppola for more info.

All registered SPACE Band Camp students will receive ONE free General Admission Lawn ticket to the 7/31 Cory Wong show. Are you a parent/guardian? Would you like to volunteer to be a parent supervisor at the 7/31 Cory Wong concert? Let us know!

Play & Sip: Adult Chamber Music Reading Session

Date: 7/21, 7:00-9:00PM

Attend our first Play & Sip: Adult Chamber Music Reading Session open to pianists, string players, and woodwinds of all adult ages/levels. This will be a casual reading session. Sign up for your desired repertoire in advance, come enjoy various wines and beer, mingle, sip, play, and get to know the CarogaArts community!

Please fill out our simple registration form and list any desired repertoire requests. Stephanie Price-Wong will send the requested repertoire list 1 week before the event and you’ll be able to sign-up for your desired repertoire. Music scores/parts will be available on the sign-up sheet sent by Stephanie.

Kids Carousel Concerts

Dates: Saturday 5/25, 8/3, 8/17, 8/31

Free family-friendly concert series presented by Caroga Arts, donations appreciated. Concert followed by free carousel rides.

Pre-Concert SPACE Sensory Station

Dates: 7/5, 7/6, & 8/3 Concerts

Come explore and play on a variety of string instruments at our “Instrument Petting Zoo,” sponsored by Sixth Generation Strings, at the SPACE Sensory Station located in the Carousel at Sherman’s Park! The SPACE Sensory Station will be open prior to the performance on 7/5 (Symphonic Sparks!), 7/6 (Red, White, Blues & Bluegrass), and 8/3 (Kids Carousel Concert: Meet the Instruments!). Kids and adults will have the opportunity to try a variety of string instruments including the violin, viola, cello, and guitar. Other sensory activities include coloring with “Louie the Loon” and building your own musical instrument.

Cost: Free, but a concert ticket is required for entry into Sherman’s Park. Concert goers 17 and under receive a free general admission ticket. Parental supervision is required.
