Your Body Is Your Strad (YBIYS) Virtual Institute focuses on the importance of awareness in enhancing functions of the real instrument – your body and mind – to help maximize musical communication and minimize injury in performance, utilizing the Feldenkrais Method.
Directed by cellist and Feldenkrais Practitioner Uri Vardi and former flutist and Feldenkrais Practitioner Hagit Vardi, the YBIYS Virtual Institute is a live interactive one-week institute open to all instrumentalists, vocalists and practitioners – students, educators and professionals are encouraged to register.
The Institute offers opportunities to improve body awareness in performance, learn from cutting edge faculty and speakers, connect with world-class artists, and create a community with fellow musicians from around the world!
Live Interactive Classes:
Awareness Through Movement classes, led by Hagit Vardi, are a major component of the process of understanding and experiencing The Feldenkrais Method and will occur daily in the morning.
Body Centered Master Classes, led by Uri Vardi, focuses on uncovering limiting habitual patterns and discovering the potential of new possibilities. Body Centered Master Classes are applicable to all instrumentalists/vocalists.
Master Classes/Presentations include discussions led by world-class musicians and educators on various topics relatable to all musicians, followed by a master class with 2-4 performers.

Your Body Is Your Strad Closing Discussion
Perform in a master class:
To perform in a master class, please submit a video recording in the registration form and we will assign you to a Body Centered master class or master class session with a faculty of your instrument. For best audio quality, faculty and participants will listen to your video recording during the master class. You may choose to use the video submitted during registration or submit a different video closer to the date. We ask that you share a link to the video file for download through Google Drive, DropBox, WeTransfer, etc. YouTube video links are acceptable for registration, but we will request the original video file for your master class performance.
There is an additional $40 tuition to perform for a master class. We are still accepting master class registrations!
Recommended video specifications: We encourage registrants to submit a video that shows the whole body from head to toe. Solo or concerto movements are preferred. If performing a Sonata movement, we encourage videos with accompaniment. The use of a separate mic hooked to your computer is recommended during the master class.
All classes and presentations are offered live exclusively to registered participants. Classes and presentations will be recorded and made privately available to registered participants. Registration fees are non-refundable.
