Creatively and Collectively Reigniting Caroga as a Top Destination!
Throughout our history, Caroga Lake and its surrounding communities have attracted many artists, scholars, performers, authors, musicians, and nature enthusiasts. They came here to revel in the intense beauty and restorative nature of the lakes nestled among the majestic Adirondack Mountains. The area fueled their passions, sparked their creativity, and ignited a spirit of community and sense of belonging that brought people back year after year!
Today, you can be a part of this mission to reignite the Caroga Experience through interdisciplinary and inter-arts collaborations among musicians, artists, scholars, and our communities. Recipient of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Tourism Award, Caroga Arts continues to creatively foster Caroga into a top destination and attraction for all.
You, too, can kindle the flame and truly make a difference in our community by joining us at the 4th Annual Caroga Arts Collective Gala on Saturday, July 27, 2019. All tickets, donations, and contributions further the mission of the Caroga Arts Collective and help to enrich the arts in Caroga Lake and in our surrounding communities.
Enjoy spectacular music by some of the most talented musicians in the country, great food, wine and beer, and an amazing silent auction. Plus, gather with people just like you who want to be a part of this incredible vision to build a thriving and sustainable arts community in our area.
Born in 2001, Matthew Whitaker’s love for playing music first began at the young age of three, after his grandfather gave him a small Yamaha keyboard. At age nine, Matthew began teaching himself how to play the Hammond B3 organ. Four years later, he became the youngest artist to be endorsed by Hammond in its 80+ year history. He was also named a Yamaha Artist at age fifteen, becoming the youngest musician to join the stellar group of jazz pianists.
Now 17 years old, Matthew has already extensively toured the U.S. and abroad, performing before The Youth Assembly at the United Nations and on other world renowned stages including Lincoln Center, Apollo Theater, Carnegie Hall, and Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC; SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco; The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC; Monterey Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival and at international venues in France, Italy, Germany, Indonesia, the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Portugal, Japan, Spain and Morocco.
Matthew was the 1st place winner at Showtime at the Apollo with Steve Harvey on FOX TV in 2016. He has been featured on national and international radio and television, including the TODAY Show, Harry Connick Jr Talk Show and The Ellen Show!
