Mason Yu has appeared as chamber musician, soloist, and concertmaster around the world and has won awards for both violin and piano. He has performed as soloist with the Lucerne Festival Academy, Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra and Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra under conductors Pablo Heras-Casado, Jane Glover and Joel Smirnoff. Mason participated in the inaugural Keuka Lake Music Festival and was a fellow in the inaugural year of Music for Food’s education program. He has also attended the Aspen Music Festival, Lucerne Festival Academy and the New York String Orchestra Seminar. Mason holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music with minors in economics and piano performance, a Masters degree from the New England Conservatory and is currently a Doctoral student at the University of Maryland. His main mentors have included Donald Weilerstein, Paul Kantor, and William Fitzpatrick.
