Cellist Alexander Cox performs actively in recital, chamber music collaborations, and as soloist. He appeared as a soloist under the batons of Michael Tilson Thomas, Keith Lockhart, and James Feddeck with the New World Symphony, Boston Pops, and Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra. Alex is an alumni and former Kovner Fellow of the Juilliard School where he studied with cellist Timothy Eddy and served as co-principal cellist of the Juilliard Orchestra. He was a past semi-finalist of both the Stulberg International String Competition and the Sphinx Competition, a competition that promotes the top young string players of Black and Hispanic descent. Festival appearances have included the Meadowmount School and the Sitka Music Festival in Alaska. Previous teachers and mentors include Melissa Kraut, Joel Krosnick, Orlando Cole, and Frans Helmerson.
