Spencer Ingersoll

Spencer Ingersoll is a second-year Viola Fellow at the New World Symphony. He graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) where he received his master’s degree under the guidance of Robert Vernon. Mr. Ingersoll was also part of the Intensive String Quartet Seminar at CIM. His quartet, the Onyx Quartet, won the senior division of the WDAV Chamber Music Competition at Davidson College in North Carolina.

Mr. Ingersoll has a diverse course as a performer. Orchestrally, he was a regular performer with regional orchestras in the Midwest including the BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony and Erie Philharmonic. He is also a substitute for the Atlanta Symphony. As a soloist, he recently performed with his alma mater, the Las Vegas Academy Philharmonic, as part of their 25th anniversary celebration in the Smith Center. He has also performed alongside renowned artists such as Thomas Robertello, James Buswell, Kathleen Winkler, Alan Stepansky, Alon Goldstein and members of the Cleveland and Guarneri string quartets.

In the summers Mr. Ingersoll has attended the Heifetz International Music Institute, Sarasota Music Festival, Kneisel Hall and was a three-time fellow at the Music Academy of the West. He also participated in the String Quartet Seminar while at the Music Academy of the West under the tutelage of the Takacs String quartet.
