Cleveland-based violinist Ann Yu is an accomplished solo and chamber musician, with solo appearances with the Cleveland Orchestra, CIM Orchestra, and the National Repertory Orchestra and chamber collaborations with Janine Jansen, Franklin Cohen, and Máté Szücs. Festival engagements include the Thy Festival in Denmark, Kneisel Hall, Perlman Music Program Workshop, and the Credo Chamber Music Festival, where she serves as faculty.
Ann’s biggest passion lies in serving the community through musical storytelling projects, collaborating with community organizations and receiving grants from the Cuyahoga Arts Council, Ohio Arts Council, and the Center for Performance and Civic Practice.
Ann holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Jaime Laredo, Jan Sloman, and William Preucil. Her hobbies include training in krav maga, dabbling in blues and bluegrass, volunteering as a wetland monitor for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and annoying her adorable tuxedo cat, Yasha.
