BRUCKER/WEISSE/CANTERBURY – BWC JAZZ ORCHESTRA
The Capital Region’s Premier Jazz Orchestra/Big Band
Born out of the library from the former Albany Jazz Workshop, this 18-piece jazz orchestra features a mix of seasoned veterans and emerging talent, making it a truly unique ensemble. The group performs music from jazz legends like Count Basie, Thad Jones, Quincy Jones, and Duke Ellington, along with selections from the traditional jazz canon. The band also showcases original and fresh arrangements from both young and seasoned arrangers within the ensemble.
This dynamic and powerful group includes up-and-coming vocalist Kaitlyn Fay, who also plays baritone saxophone.
The orchestra has performed at venues such as WAMC’s The Linda, Freedom Park in Scotia, and more. It was also featured on the celebrated series “A Place for Jazz” last fall. As the only true Jazz Orchestra in the Capital Region since the Empire Jazz Orchestra’s residency at Schenectady County Community College, the group is eager to perform for new audiences.
