Anna Leunis 2023

Originally from Darien, Connecticut, violinist Anna Leunis is a versatile and passionate musician. An active performer, Anna is a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Sarasota Opera Orchestra, and a substitute for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Anna has served in principal positions with the Eastman Philharmonia, Eastman Opera Theater, and toured in Spain as concertmaster of the Norwalk Youth Symphony.

An avid chamber musician, Anna has performed at the Skidmore String Festival, Chamber Music Institute at the Stamford Center for the Arts, Core Memory Music series, among others, playing alongside members of the American String Quartet, The Lumina String Quartet, and Antonio Lysy. Anna participated in the intensive string quartet seminar with the Ying String Quartet, performing at Hatch Hall, along with a residency at the Avaloch Music Institute. Anna was selected as the recipient of the Emerging Young Artist Scholarship from the Stamford Center for the Arts, and the Celentano Award in Chamber Music, awarded to honors students who demonstrate exceptional achievement in the study and performance of chamber music. Anna has spent her summers performing at the Britt Music and Arts Festival, Artosphere Festival, Lake George Summer Music Festival, Pacific Music Festival, Yellow Barn YAP, Manchester Music Festival, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, and Accademia Isola Classica. Beginning her musical studies at the age of five, Anna studied with Asya Meshberg privately and with her quartet. Anna holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, and the Yale School of Music where she was under the tutelage of Oleh Krysa and Syoko Aki. Dedicated to inspiring young classical musicians, Anna is the Assistant Director of the Chamber Music for Young Musicians and has taught chamber music at the festival since 2015. Anna is also a Teaching Artist at Intempo in Stamford, CT.
