Jeanelle Thompson joined the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Second Violin in May of 2022. Prior to joining the RPO she performed as a substitute violinist with the Cleveland Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Preparatory Chamber Music faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

A native of Arizona, Jeanelle made her solo debut with the Phoenix Symphony at the age of 16. In 2016 she received her undergraduate degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with William Preucil and was awarded the Dr. Jerome Gross Prize in Violin.
