Yi-Mei Templeman is a cellist, singer-songwriter, and composer from Santa Monica, California. She creatively fuses genres, breathing new life into the cello in order to welcome people of all backgrounds into her thoughtful and intimate storytelling. Yi-Mei is the founding cellist of the internationally acclaimed piano trio, Trio Gaia, the most recent trio in-residence at New England Conservatory. Outside of her work as a classical cellist and chamber musician, Yi-Mei moonlights as a singer-songwriter under the artist moniker, “yeemz”. As “yeemz,” she writes and performs her original music, strumming her cello like a guitar. She has toured with bands such as Billie Marten and American Football, and also collaborated with Celebrity Series of Boston and A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra, bringing classical and indie music worlds together. She has collaborated on string arrangements with pop artists like Sabrina Carpenter and scored three short films. She released her debut solo album in 2025.
