Jason Kutz grew up in Kiel, Wisconsin, and lives in Madison where he works as a pianist, composer, teacher, arranger, artist, and graphic designer. His main projects, Mr. Chair and Bad Philosopher, feature his multi-genre interests. He is additionally active performing as soloist and orchestra member with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, teaching privately, and touring with Opera for the Young, among many other things.

His musical interests lie wholly within and between the classical and jazz worlds. All music is constructed with the same building blocks, and it’s only with small changes in formula that genre and affect differ. The goal is discovering, diffusing, and disguising these borders.

Jason’s passion abounds outside of music, in soccer, movement, interactive media, playing games, finding things, and treasure.
