Kohei Yamaguchi has been a section double bass member of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and has regularly performed with several orchestras in the southeastern Michigan area. He has also toured Japan with the 2015, 2016, and 2017 Pacific Music Festival Orchestra as the principal bassist playing under the direction of music director and conductor, Valery Gergiev. Kohei has recently performed in Carnegie Hall as a member of the Yale University School of Music’s Yale in New York concert series for which he performed a chamber ensemble arrangement of Bruckner’s 7th Symphony as well as Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale. Kohei hails from Columbus, Ohio, and earned his M.M. and M.M.A. from the Yale University School of Music studying with Donald Palma and his B.M. from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance studying under Diana Gannett and Stephen Molina. Kohei currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut, and regularly performs with orchestras and ensembles in the Connecticut and New York City areas.
