As an active performer and free-lance oboist in the Greater New York area, Dan Shengquan has played with the Eastern Winds Symphony since 2019. He also plays regularly with the Chelsea Symphony and Orchestras at Brooklyn College and American Composer’s Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Dan and his woodwind quintet, the Prime Winds performed the New York premiere of Hanns Eisler’s Divertimento for Wind Quintet Op.4 in April 2019. They have played with well-recognized woodwind quintets including Quintet of the Americas and the Imani Winds. Toshihisa Tsuruoka commissioned his original piece The Inviscid Flow for Prime Winds. As a music educator, Dan is currently teaching with eConnect123 and serves as an operational assistant Rutgers Community Art. He also taught as an adjunct oboe instructor at NYU for 2 years from 2018. Born in 1995, Dan Shengquan is currently a DMA candidate at Rutgers Mason Gross School of Art. He completed the Advanced Diploma and Master of Music degree on oboe performance from New York University, where he studied with Humbert Lucarelli, Matthew Sullivan, Gilles Cheng and Liang Wang. Dan earned his bachelor’s degree of economics from American University in Washington D.C.
