Stephen Hawkey is a cellist based in Indianapolis, where he serves as assistant principal cello of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing with the ISO, he is adjunct professor of cello at the University of Indianapolis and Anderson University. Prior to his time in Indianapolis, Stephen received a bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, and then went on to receive his master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music in Ohio. Outside of music, Stephen is an avid runner who has completed eight marathons, and enjoys spending time with his family—Sophia, a violinist with the ISO, and their three cats: Simba, Peppo, and Maxie.
