Hyugrai “Ray” Kim, cellist and native of South Korea, joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in the 2023/24 season. He made his solo debut at age 14 with the Seoul Royal Symphony Orchestra and has performed at festivals including Festival Mozaic, Grand Teton, and the Pacific Music Festival. He holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Eastman School of Music, and the University of Texas at Austin. A dedicated educator, Mr. Kim teaches with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and Franklin Pond Chamber Music Program, and has held teaching roles at the University of Texas at Austin.
