After making his solo debut with the Oregon Symphony at the age of 11, violinist Andy Liang went on to perform in Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and Jordan Hall by the age of 15. A featured artist on NPR’s From the Top, Liang is currently Acting Second Assistant Concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony, where he’s been a member since 2017. Notable recent performances include joining the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on its 2024 European Tour to Germany, Austria and Italy. Liang is also a founding member of the KASA Quartet, grand prize winners of the Coltman Chamber Music Competition; the group is known for its genre-defying performances that fuse classical repertoire with jazz, musical theater, folk and pop standards. As part of the Young Professional String Quartet in Residence, Liang received his Artist Diploma from the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied with the Miró Quartet. Additionally, he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University under the tutelage of Cho-Liang Lin.
