Fredericks’s first-place “The Voice” prize was $100,000 and a recording contract. Before that, however, he was known as a local musician, playing at local farmers’ markets, open mics, and iconic New York venues like Caffe Lena, the Towne Crier Cafe and The Bitter End. On reality TV, he quickly won over broad audiences with his genuine delivery and unique arrangements of classic songs. Fredericks then released his debut album, A Good Storm, with Republic Records, a blend of soulful folk, blues, and rock, entirely written or cowritten by Sawyer. His 2016 A Good Storm tour included 62 shows across the US.
